A Bittersweet Farewell to Fireside Crystal Beach

The Crystal Beach community is saying goodbye to a beloved local gem.

After years of serving as a go-to for authentic Greek flavors, Fireside Crystal Beach has announced it will be closing its brick-and-mortar doors at 406 Derby Road.

The announcement, shared by the “girls behind the counter,” Cassandra and Alicia, expressed deep gratitude for the years of laughter, late-night souvlaki runs, and the community that supported them from the start.

The Heart of Crystal Beach

Located at 406 Derby Road in Crystal Beach, Ontario, Fireside was a central fixture in the neighborhood. Its prime location made it a staple for locals and visitors alike, situated just a stone’s throw from:

  • The Waterfront: Positioned conveniently for those heading toward the beach or enjoying a stroll down Erie Rd.
  • Local Favorites: It was part of a vibrant dining cluster, located near South Coast Cookhouse, Gather Tasting Room, and the Crystal Chandelier.
  • Neighborhood Landmarks: Directly accessible from the Queens Circle hub, making it an easy stop for anyone navigating the heart of the village.

A Legacy of Greek Comfort

Fireside was known for its “small yet flavourful menu,” bringing the essence of Greece to Ontario through high-quality, ingredient-driven comfort food. Fans will long remember:

  • Signature Dishes: Popular orders included the Chicken Souvlaki Burger, the Gyros Pita, and the Pork Souvlaki Dinner.
  • The “Secret Sauce”: Patrons frequently raved about their “mouthwatering Tzatziki,” often requesting extra to go with their grilled pita.
  • Community Connection: For many, it wasn’t just a take-out spot; it was a place where “neighbors became friends,” with some regulars admitting they were “hooked and addicted” to the food.

The Journey Continues

While the storefront on Derby Road is closing its doors on March 7th, this isn’t a final goodbye. The team has exciting news for their “extended family” of customers:

  • The Food Truck: Fireside will continue to operate their food truck this summer.
  • Stay Connected: Fans are encouraged to keep an eye on their social media stories for upcoming locations and dates.

As one patron put it, Fireside offered “definitely the best food in Crystal Beach”. While the physical location will be missed, the community is already looking forward to finding that familiar food truck once the warmer weather hits.
