After 16 years of serving homemade pasta, bubbling pizzas, and table-side memories, Mangia! Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria in Mohnton, Pennsylvania will close its doors on March 8, 2026.
In a heartfelt message to customers, the owners shared that the decision was made with a “heavy, but grateful heart.” What began as a simple idea grew into something much larger — a community gathering place filled with conversations, laughter, celebrations, and comforting meals.
Located at 322 E Wyomissing Ave in Mohnton, Mangia! became known for its family-owned warmth and authentic Italian fare. From thick, cheesy pepperoni slices to specialty pies topped with broccoli, spinach, and tomato, the menu reflected a classic neighborhood pizzeria with personality. Desserts like banana flambé added a little theatrical sweetness to the end of a meal.
Regulars often mentioned owner Jo Jo and the lively, sometimes hilarious, tableside pasta presentations — small touches that made dining there feel personal. It wasn’t just about the food; it was about being welcomed.

A New Chapter

Gift certificates for Mangia! will be honored at Café Folino restaurants, ensuring loyal guests can still enjoy familiar hospitality under a new banner.

Many customers expressed deep appreciation not just for the food, but for the hospitality and relationships built over decades.
It’s always hard to see a local institution close — especially one that has woven itself into so many families’ lives.
A Local Landmark Says Goodbye
Sixteen years is a long run in the restaurant world. In that time, Mangia! became part of birthdays, anniversaries, first dates, Sunday dinners, and weeknight takeout traditions across Berks County.
Restaurants like Mangia! often represent more than menus — they hold the rhythm of a community. As March 8 approaches, longtime patrons will likely stop in for one last slice, one more shared plate of pasta, or one final memory inside the dining room that meant so much.
For Mohnton, this is more than a business closing. It’s the end of a chapter written in marinara sauce and mozzarella — and the beginning of something new just down the road.
If you have memories of Mangia! Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria, now is the time to share them — and perhaps make one last reservation before the doors close for good.
