Denny’s on Wall Street Has Closed — A Midland Late-Night Landmark Fades Out

For decades, the Denny’s at 3701 W Wall St (W Wall Ave), Midland, TX 79703 was one of those places you could count on when the rest of town went dark—coffee refills, a booth you could melt into, and a familiar glow off Wall Street on the way home. However, as of 1/5/2026, Google has it listed as Permanently Closed. It opened its doors in the late 70’s. There was another Denny’s on Loop 250, in the building which is now Occasions Fine Jewelry. That location closed down in 2006.

Denny’s also had an Odessa location, listed below as 5023 E. Hwy 80, but is now at 105 W 42nd St, Odessa, TX 79764, which was a Carrow’s Restaurants beforehand. The Hwy 80 location closed in 2001.

I love finding old listings like this, some of these restaurant names are grand, did any of you ever eat at the Dunkles in Midland?

It sat in a little cluster of “Midland after-hours” history: next door to what’s now the Rodeway Inn Midland South (formerly the Executive Inn), beside Rio Grande Pollos Asados, and not far from holdouts like Bob’s Better Burger.

And for plenty of folks revisiting old haunts—places like the Cactus Moon—this Denny’s was the unofficial last stop: a nightcap of pancakes, eggs, or just a quiet cup of coffee before heading home to sleep it off.

An ad from 1981 seeking help. Not sure you can still find cooks for 4 dollars an hour in 2026.

I love old restaurants! There is something interesting about the history of a closed down restaurant and the amazing possibility of something new!
