Iowa City’s downtown dining scene has bid farewell to a long-standing comfort food favorite, Harry’s Bar & Grill. The restaurant at 116 E Washington St officially closed its doors on February 18, 2026. For years, Harry’s was known for its casual atmosphere and hearty, dependable menu.
Harry’s was a beloved part of the vibrant **Downtown Iowa City** district, situated just off the pedestrian mall and close to the University of Iowa campus. It was a popular spot for students, locals, and visitors attending events at the nearby Hancher Auditorium or enjoying the lively Washington Street nightlife.
