East Village Farewell: The Onion Tree Pizza Co. to Close

The unique fusion of Romana-style pies and Indian flavors at The Onion Tree Pizza Co. is coming to an end at 214 First Ave. in New York City. The East Village spot is scheduled to close on February 22, 2026. While the Manhattan outpost was short-lived, the brand’s flagship location on Long Island will remain open for business.

The pizzeria enjoyed a prime spot at the corner of First Avenue and E 13th Street. It was located just a few blocks from Stuyvesant Square Park and was situated in a dense residential hub near the L Train First Avenue station. Its location was a popular late-night stop in a neighborhood known for its competitive and diverse culinary options.

I love old restaurants! There is something interesting about the history of a closed down restaurant and the amazing possibility of something new!
