Iconic Luce Ristorante Sets Final Supper Date

A San Antonio Landmark Ends Its Run: Luce Ristorante to Close After 20 Years

The Northwest Side is losing a long-time culinary staple as Luce Ristorante E Enoteca prepares to serve its final meal. Owner Joe Buonincontri announced that the restaurant, located at 11255 Huebner Road, will close on March 7, 2026. Buonincontri, who opened the upscale Italian eatery in 2006, shared that he made the difficult decision not to renew the lease at the Huebner Oaks location after two decades of service.

Luce Ristorante has long anchored the Huebner Oaks area, situated conveniently near the Medical Center district. The restaurant was a landmark within the shopping complex, located just down the way from California Pizza Kitchen and the AMC Huebner Oaks 24. Its central location made it a premier destination for date nights and business lunches alike.

The menu was celebrated for its authentic Italian flair, specializing in house-made pastas, wood-fired pizzas, and an extensive, award-winning wine list. Signature dishes included the Osso Buco di Maiale and handmade gnocchi. As the community prepares for the closure, the space’s future remains unconfirmed by property management.

I love old restaurants! There is something interesting about the history of a closed down restaurant and the amazing possibility of something new!
